The laws governing exotic pets, help?
I have to write a report on sources of supply in the exotic pet trade, and how affected by the legislation. Ive already included the Pet Animals Act 1995, The Law of Animal Welfare 2006, the Dangerous Wild Animals, 1976, CITES and the Wildlife and Countryside Act. I have to include transportation laws, however, does anyone know about any law or any law i have missed? many thanks x
You could try animal health or the department of transportation from Heathrow Airport, UK. They might be able to give some advice if you explain what you are researching. I've been there on days when large numbers of tropical fish arriving in the country. There are also specialist companies that deal in international transportation of pets, mostly dogs and cats. There are rules about passports for pets and the animals come from outside the EU again several ensure standards vetinary inspection immediately prior to your arrival and take out - I might be able to help.
