Dog Adoption Tips I learned from my two dogs
There is a hole in your life that only a dog can fill. Want a special dog, perhaps only a fully developed adult. Maybe your code of ethics calls for saving the life of a dog - do not buy an expensive purebred.
I am not a veterinarian or a dog trainer, but I enjoyed two successful adoptions. Here are some tips I have picked up along the road.
(1) Clarify your needs before time.

(2) See the difference between shelter and rescue groups.

(3) Be prepared to pay.
Shelter animals are not free, but they achieve a value for money. Expect to pay a fee that can include spay / neuter costs, licenses and / or vet visits.
(4) Consider a older dog.
By the time a dog has become three or four, she is as big as she is going to get. No surprises! You'll also have clues regarding his temperament.
(5) Plan to confine the dog for a period of transition.
