Why is my dog hyper after taking Benadryl?
I gave my 80 pound dog Benadryl for allergies and hyper now! Is it ok?
Benadryl is generally safe for dogs, and they can take higher doses than people, but I hope your vet checked before they gave it. Recent dogs drowsy (like people), but never had much of an effect on my dog, in addition to alleviating allergies. I guess what another dog hyper, but not really I know. My guess is that the dog will be fine, but call the vet in the morning to check. Or, if your veterinarian has an after-hours (my vet has the number in the message), they can call for reassurance. However, you need to try something other than Benedryl - there are a number of more of the medications in this group that can give dogs, but again, consult your veterinarian.
