Pet care during winter months
Time has changed and the leaves have fallen from the trees. It is the time of year to prepare for the winter. In much of the country is snow on the ground soon and get sub-zero temperatures. Your dog and the cat knows it's winter. They get their winter coat and react in the light of the shortest day is the same as us. Some dog owners leave their pets outside periods exteneded of thinking about time that animals adapt to weather of life. That is not the case of domesticated pets. Are used to living inside as much as us. I would like some tips on pet care winter.
1. A good idea for winter care for your pet would be to take them to your veternarian before winter really sets in. Make sure your pet is in good health. Older dogs, like older humans, tend to get sick more easily in winter. If your pet has arthritis or diabetes or heart problems make sure you get a good check up.
2. If it's cold outside make sure to watch your dog and cat care. A good idea would be to stay out with them. When cooled, then chances are your dog is cool too. That would be a good sign that you return inside.
3. Watch for hazards in the winter. If you live near ponds or lakes to keep your dog away from the ice. You never know what is ice thickness. If your dog would fall in it would have a hard time getting out. I would say that if they stay near water at him. If you live near woods or a forest of snow can cover up the dangers that the dog can not see, such as sticks, stones or debris.
4. Keep an eye out for antifreeze. Dogs like the smell and drink it if see. Antifree is extremely toxic and kills his dog. If you need to change the antifreeze, make sure your clean up any spills. Dogs do not have access to safe drinking water not frozen drink whatever they can find. This includes water stream, which can contain antifreeze, waste oil or other hazardous household.
5. If your dog has to be kept outside of any length of time making sure they have a welcoming and pleasant. A nice sturdy doghouse would be a good idea. Sure they have a good bed of hot dog and unfrozen fresh water. That is very important. Your dog can become dehydrated in the winter. Please check your bowl of water before going to work or shopping. If you put a hot water bottle wrapped in a shelter, keep warm.
6.Rock deicer salt and can be very hard on your dogs pads. When enter the house be sure to clean your cushions with a warm cloth. This is important as they may try to lick their feet and can become very ill.
7. Sea especially careful with dogs that age or older. Your arthritis may worsen in the winter. Stay close to them when they are down the stairs, as they can slip and fall. They can be a bit more awkward and uneasy when they are away. In the winter you may need help getting up from your favorite couch or chair. Make sure they have a nice cozy bed. A hot dog bed would be a great idea. You may have problems to get out of bed in the morning.
8.If you have a cat which hits the streets watch the beginning of his vehicle as cats like to curl up in the hot engines. A good thing to do is hit the hood of your vehicle any cat jump hidden there. If a cat is in your engine and start it, the cat is injured or killed.
9.A good idea if you can get your dog let him do this put a sweater little heat in them. Little legs boots also help to keep little legs warm.
Take good care of your pet Thiis winter and they will be there to keep you company for many winters to come.
