Dump Cake Recipe - A Dutch oven is ideal for baking cakes dump!
Each year about 20 of us go on a camping trip a year. However, this year I'm bringing a surprise for the group. I recently bought a new oven, Dutch cooking an easy meal and different. A person can get tired of eating hamburgers and hot dogs for one week only. My oven comes with a complete cookbook of Dutch oven. As I was going through the cookbook, I found some really great recipes I tested. My favorite is the recipe for dump cake. When I first read the name "dump" cake I was not sure what I expected. I certainly did not expect what was the recipe.
The recipe was originally created to be cooked by the children. Therefore, making lives up to its name. The recipe for dump cake is quick and easy and can take two main ingredients in four easy steps.
Overturn Cake ingredients:
A can of your favorite fruit
A box of white cake mix
Butter (optional)
No stick spray (Optional)
Four simple steps:
Step 1 - open a can of fruit and pour it into the bottom of its Dutch oven. Do not forget the can opener. You can also spray the oven with cooking spray. This will help keep the cake from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Step 2 - Poor box white cake mix evenly over the fruit. If desired, you can put slices of butter on top of the mixture Cake.
Step 3 - Place the Dutch oven over open coals and coal somewhere in the top of the oven.
Step 4 - Bake until cake is golden brown and crust forms around the edges.
Using a Dutch oven to cook over an open fire has a certain skill. You need to understand how and when to add and remove the coal affects the dish you are cooking. You will want to practice using the oven to ensure to get the feel of how it handles temperature changes. Especially when making the recipe for dump cake. Recording the bottom ruin the taste. That is the last thing you want while camping.
