Why does my dog bark to the doorbell?
We don't have a doorbell. But when someone's doorbell rings on TV he goes bananas and runs to the window.
These are good answers, and explains why he barks to the TV doorbell (unusual noise warrants reaction). I wish I could rationalize how he knows to go to the window though. Remember, there's no one there - it's not our bell - so there's no footsteps or voices he's hearing out there. Yes we had him since a puppy - - good question though.
It's a sudden noise and he thinks it's his job to alert you to things like that. Some dogs will do that when a telephone rings on tv as well as when it really rings in the house. Sounds like he's on the job as watchdog, even when the 'watching' involves tv noises. Lucky you.
