Dog Obedience Training - So you want a puppy?
If you've ever worked in any animal shelter or rescue organization that you know that every year, after Christmas, he was swamped with dozens of puppies unwanted have not been through a course of full obedience dog training, and therefore will, perhaps, some antisocial behaviors that will make the creature poor hard to rehome.
The puppy was not socialized or worked through a course of obedience training that might have acquired a tendency to the puppy to be a bitter, or a charlatan, or a dog to dig.
They come into the shelter looking for a new home, since it grew too large, or no one wanted to feed and care for, or that there was insufficient time to give the dog the attention it needs, or had become a teething problem, or barking incessantly for all day, and it was costing more to feed and could be granted - and so on and so forth.
Many people think that All you have to think about is how kids would love to have a little puppy in August. Failure to stop and think about the fact that having a puppy in your life should be a lifelong commitment and with that comes the responsibility to ensure their long-term health and welfare.
Unfortunately so many people have no idea why they want a puppy and soon could not go through a proper course of dog obedience training and has become a problem at home, and an embarrassment every time he goes with you for a walk.
I firmly believe that there should be a licensing system owners in the future owner / buyer must adequately demonstrate that they have attained full researched answers to the following questions: -
• Why is exactly what they want to take responsibility for a dog?
• Will you have enough time to take the dog to a club or training center that will offer a course of full obedience training for dogs?
• Have you or the person who will care for the dog, have enough time to give the dog proper exercise and training at home and in your local club or training center?
• Do you want a dog to a dog with the sport? Agility, fly ball, Frisbee, monitoring, IPOs etc.
• Are you willing to match the dog with a particular sport? - It would be better to have a border collie to do with agility rather than a St. Bernard.
• Do you want a dog to love and just cuddle?
• Have you done some research in a number of dogs that fit the category you want your dog in shape? If you want a terrier, You want a Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier one or Fox Terrier.
• Can you afford the vet bills if something goes wrong?
• Are you aware that some dogs are on average more expensive to maintain than others?
• Do you have or are going to have children - what dog is suitable about young children?
• What are the training clubs in your area and they do train using positive reward systems.
• Do you want a purebred dog pedigree you may be able to breed with?
• Are you aware of the requirements for be a breeder?
• Are you aware of the problems that arise when you have a litter of puppies?
• Where is the area of free exercise of the belt?
This is not an exhaustive list and I'm sure it would be able to add several very pertinent questions, without thinking too.
Let's see if we can get an idea of the answers to the questions above: -
1) This depends on many factors. A tradition like a dog the back of their usefulness. One child wants a partner. A competitor wants a dog agility training agility. He wears a silky terrier pet shop window and only loved her.
Short answer - use your head not your heart and consider carefully what you want a dog.
2) Who is going to train a puppy? Not only the home club dog obedience, but also train, train yard, and exercise time. Ideally, everyone in the house should be aware what kind of training you are doing and what systems are being used.
3) Dog sports are fun and I recommend that you get involved wherever possible. Some clubs specialize in training dogs just do dog obedience, while others may provide obedience training leads to doing basic dog agility work or IPOs. Then there are specialized groups that just maybe Frisbee or fly ball.
4) If you want to do with agility your dog then you need to think about getting one of the working breeds. If you want a dog to pull a sled then you need a sled dog. If you are hunting duck needs a retriever and pointer pheasant hunters need.
5) Dogs get sick, get bitten by ticks and have accidents. vet bills can be really big. Last year, on a weekend I had 2 dogs descended from tick bites. The vet bill was $ 1,200 ordered. Are you ready for that?
6) There was some research in the UK recently included in the costs of owning dogs. I could not believe that the most expensive dog was listed as a Chihuahua. But food for giant breed Mastive be huge compared to a Maltese poodle.
7) Speaking Maltese poodle, another research report had this race as the most vicious of all dogs of the breed is credited with the largest number of bites recorded. Its bite may not be great, but you want your precious baby to be another statistic.
Training your puppy is an essential part of the property dog. You have to join a prestigious club that offers group classes where your puppy will be able to relate and interact with other puppies. I recommend finding a club doing his obedience training the dog with the click and treat method and choker necklaces such bans.
9) Once you have some kind control and the puppy is fully vaccinated immunity, go to an off leash dog park will continue working on socialization skills. Reaching a river or a lovely beach dog will give your pet a little exercise significant. Did I have time to do this?
If you're reading this, find information about what you need to know before buying a puppy, then I congratulate you on taking this first step.
If you've come this far, then heads to be a responsible owner and I am sure you will make arrangements to ensure receiving a course of puppy obedience training total. Enjoy your puppy.
