My dog is 7 years old and recently torn his knee ligament. Is it possible to avoid surgery? How?
My dog is a small cocker Spaniel. She weighs 20 pounds (~ 10 kg) and she is a bit hyperactive. Of course I went to the vets, not once but two and the rest is recommended for a second and Rimadyl. He did well with that, but now she is out of medicine and I feel it's not right. The vet said it takes time, but then suggested surgery. I personally dislike surgery, but it is the only way I'll go with that. The vet said it was the cruciate ligament, but we have not yet made any X-rays.
I assuming that your vet diagnosed torn ligaments? Do you recommend surgery? If you are trying to avoid surgery then you need to get a second opinion from another vet. Try a holistic veterinarian. A holistic vet not avoid surgery, if that is what is needed, but will be more willing to refer to someone who does physical therapy dog.
