Are there other (cheaper) HomeAgain Scanners read the chip?

I'm flying to Japan with my two dogs in November. Both have HomeAgain microchips and I have to buy my own scanner to read the chips in the office. Reader HomeAgain are about $ 300.00. I wondered if one of the toughest scanners Cheap would still be able to read the chips. Japan has very strict import laws. The microchip must be in place before the two rounds of rabies vaccines and blood tests. Then, after a period of six months of waiting, the pet is eligible to enter the country. Return to jump on this point is not an option, Unfortunately. =)

Could you get them back to chips with a different chip that you do not have to buy your own scanner? Could you be more Cheap. edit: Hmmm --- that's a shame. I wonder if it would do for the veterinarian to write a letter stating that the same animal and have the same animal tested which have introduced a new chip is the same as had the old chip? All the chip does is verify that animals with a vaccine is the same animal that has the chip in them (So it can not cross the documents and lying about them). Multiple rounds of vaccines, with the chip in just ensures that the vet can verify that the patient they think they have made --- vaccines. --- He was also thinking some companies hire a chip reader in cases like this. Perhaps HomeAgain will?
