How to effectively remove dog urine smell
Dog urine odor can be a big problem for some pet owners. The unpleasant smell can overcome even the toughest noses. The reason the odor becomes so strong is clear. Dogs tend to urinate in the same place many times. Cleaning up the urine often is not enough to deter the dog back.
A dog sense of smell is extreme. It is therefore important for effective cleaning away for urine has no odor remains. The task is difficult but can be solved quite easily.
Of course, the first thing I do is to clean away the urine with a good soapy disinfectant cleaner. Then tackle the odor.
The best cleaners are enzymatic odor elimination. Most enzymes are proteins. When used in cleaning, they break down the molecules that are responsible for stains and odors. Because they destroy the cause, enzymatic cleaners are more effective than other products cleaning to remove the smell of dog urine.
These products are relatively easy to find at your local pet supply.
Alternatively, can create your own effective cleaner that removes dog urine and dog urine stains. It will have three parts water to one part vinegar, baking soda and detergent washing dishes.
The urine cleaning carpets can be difficult when they are involved because the liquid (urine and cleaner) can penetrate the below ground. While the surface is cleaned, the urine moves farther from their reach.
You want to get rid of the urine as much as possible before applying cleaner.
The best way is to put under the carpet a wad of newspaper or other thick paper that absorbs liquid. Put another wad on top of carpet and apply heavy pressure to the surface. This can make walking or standing on paper, or accumulation of heavy books and let it soak it up. This will require the urine out of the carpet and on paper. Replace the paper as it gets wet. Continue this technique until the paper is as dry as possible.
Now you are ready to apply your cleaner.
Saturate the area with vinegar / water and dry up as before. The vinegar neutralizes the smell and the active ingredients in urine. Sprinkle baking soda over the area and follow that with a mixture of ¾ cup of hydrogen peroxide and a dash of dish detergent applied over the baking soda.
As you know, baking soda is another product that absorbs odors. (Many people use them in their fridges to get rid of odors.)
You may want to try the mixture of hydrogen and detergent in a hidden area of carpet first to ensure it will not cause a stain.
Work bicarbonate sodium, a mixture of hydrogen and detergent into the spot urine and leave it dry by itself. Once it dries, you can claim the remains.
The key is to get as much urine as possible before applying any cleaning product. The more urine that remains the more difficult it is to remove the smell of dog urine.
Dog urine inside your house is or should be a temporary situation until your dog is house training. Then your main concern will be removing urine smell the scent of your garden. There are two ways to tackle the problem outdoors.
First, rinse the area with clean water, as soon as possible after your dog's urine.
1) Apply a vinegar / water solution liberally over the area, or use a store-bought clean urine
2) Spray the area with a product designed to keep dogs and pets away from certain areas.
Once eliminated the odor of dog urine, found a way to prevent your dog from returning to that area, and that his dog house trained, dog urine odor is no longer a problem.
