Since dogs paws were made for grass not ashphalt, doesn’t it hurt them when they walk on it?
Dogs were created for walking on the earth, the natural earth, grass and sand. So I wonder, how is it that their footpads are ok to walk on our rough roads (ashphalt, rocks and gravel). Doesn’t it hurt them? Poor things. I’ve walked barefoot on ashphalt and oh my goodness does it ever hurt when it’s a hot day! How strong are the pads on dogs’ paws?
Dogs pads will harden and become tougher over repeated use over asphalt but of course this needs to be gradual ! You can’t expect a dog that has never been on asphalt to all of a sudden run on it all day. So I’d start gradually and then increase. also steer clear of asphalt on a hot day because their paws can burn as well. Eventually a dog will be comfortable on many surfaces such as hiking or running , etc. But to avoid overdoing things, you can also get your dog protective booties.
