Why would my dog whos usually quiet at night start barking alot?
Shes been quiet for about a year but recently last 10 days been barking alot. the bark i think she does when scared or hears something. When i go out i see nothing. What should i do? she sheds hairs alot so hard to keep indoors. shes out in a sizeable kennel.
Anything to do with being nuetred latly a month a go?
She probably just wants to be with you and she's testing to she if you'll come to her if she barks. When ever she barks don't go running down to pat her or talk to her. Just leave her and if your worried about her just look through a peep hole to see if she's okay. Why? 1 she see's that you respond to her barking and then that's what she'll use to call you 2 if you pat her it is encouraging her to bark because it's like saying to her 'good girl keep barking'.
Or give her plenty of mental and physical stimulation during the day you'll have to look this one up for yourself cause you haven't told us the breed. But you could go to the beach, go to the doggy park or just go for a walk.
Another suggestion is an electric collar or bark collar. Most people think these are bad devices but they have solved a lot of problems while leaving the dog with no anxiety problems or anything like that. It only gives a dog a quick zap, it doesn't hurt them it just confuses the dog. When it tries to bark again it will give the dog a little zap again. You will have to talk to a Specialist about using these devices cause they have their cons and you have to choos which collar is best for you also you'll have to know how to use it. This collar way is a quicker method to stop her barking.
You could also think about getting another dog to keep her company but you have to decide whether you can afford to look after 2 dogs.
You can talk to the vet next time you go for a check up and ask or find a trainer.
