Are All Dog breed specific competitions
Do you have to have a Border Collie to run the agility? A Jack Russell Terrier flyball? A Australian shepherd dog compete in the disk? Is it only for Schutzhund German Shepherds? What about the dogs spring? Is it just for Labrador Retrievers? Do I need an American Pit Bull Terrier, if I want to do weight pull events?
Nope. "These races have an advantage in a particular sport? Sure. Most sports were originally designed to display the talents of a particular race or, as in the case
Schutzhund, herding and tracking tests and attract courses, to help determine the creditworthiness of a dog to be bred or test the working ability of a dog, but have become sports, games for everyone whose dog is healthy, physically and mentally prepared to participate and have fun, if you have a Papillon who loves to fly through an agility course or an American Pit Bull Terrier with a passion for finding things with his nose. Most dog sports are now sponsoring organizations that welcome all races and like a dog that could only be of any race!
Agility may be the most popular dog sport in the United States States. Sailing is fun to watch dogs for the course. Some are serious and professional - until the end and then his enthusiasm burst its bounds. There is nothing as fun as seeing a jump 60 pounds Australian Shepherd arms of his owner at the end of a full agility run. . . so comprehensive for the driver! The indomitable spirit of a small Chihuahua as she finds the only place on the board can stumble off balance long enough to get wet allow it to fly down to earth and the shuttle through the weave poles is both fun and uplifting.
Flyball, and earthdog catchball all sports are traditionally Jack Russell Terrier, with the occasional Rat Terrier in the mix, but if look you will see Shelties, Papillons, and an assortment Terriers to play flyball and catchball right in there with the JRTS, including the long-haired stranger is chasing Whippet a flyball.
If you keep your eyes open, you'll see the American Pit Bull Terrier is involved in almost every sport open to dogs, or at least where the association sports allowed to participate. Traditionally, this workhorse has been a bit all races end, doing everything from child care for grazing and hunting monitoring by the formidable wild boar. Have been used as search dogs and rescue dogs to detect contraband (although not very good as patrol dogs because they tend to be too easy and would be more likely to adopt a suspect in a game of strip to hit him and keep him), and continues its history of versatility in the world sport of dogs.
Weight pull events will showcase a variety of races, and in general are rare breeds that do not get to play anywhere else. Personally I have been strip weight Presa Canarios, American thugs, Boebels, Hairless Terriers and of course, my own row, with Rottweilers, Malamutes, Rat Terrier, Chihuahuas (yes, really), Labrador and Golden Retriever, Australian Shepherd, and of course, the race most closely associated with sport, the APBT. . . a melting pot athletes.
The best thing about dog sports is that our dogs participate because they want to have fun and make us happy. It's good for them, both mentally and physically. Dogs do not get caught in the drama of the collection points or tapes. Some of them seem to have a kick to win, but that's not nearly as important to them as the dog excited "Well!" Oyen after a completed run. We are the only ones out of shape on the results and locations.
So you see, do not always have to have a Border Collie for agility. But yes, if you want to participate in Wiener dog racing is fairly certain that you have to have a
Dachshund.
