Tips for caring for your older dog
* Make sure your older dog to get a check each month sixe. This will ensure your dog is kept in better health.
* Make sure your veterinarian checks your older dog to: signs of heart disease, kidney function liver, breast and prostate changes, changes in vision and hearing, and decreased lung capacity.
* The change in diet - feed your older dog is the best food available. It's a good idea to feed your older dog twice a day instead of only once. Note that, as your dog ages, so does your metabolism, so a need for calories decreases. The levels of proteins and fats should be low, however, the food must contain a high amount fiber as older dogs are prone to constipation. (It's also a good idea to make sure your dog drinks plenty of water.) Try a Senior Dog Formula and ask your veterinarian to help you select the best food for your pet.
* As dogs age, their immune system tends to weaken. Make sure your dog is aware of all vaccines and are regularly protect your pet against fleas and ticks.
* The exercise of your older dog protect your dog from the loss of muscle tone and mass. Ramps, raised feeders, and orthopedic beds also help keep your muscles dogs.
* Assist the dental needs of your dog. Many dogs older develop dental disease, making it a good idea to brush their teeth regularly and dogs have been cleaned professionally when your veterinarian recommends it.

* Please note that gray coat and changes may occur in older dogs. If you change your hair dramatically dogs, have revised your veterinarian as this may be a sign of serious disease. Regular brushing will help keep your dog shiny coat, increasing oil production.
* Older dogs are more sensitive to the weather. Have your dog with a coat or sweater when going outdoors in winter, and keep your dog inside during the months summer.
* Keep your dog happy! Remember to include your dog in the activities of what you can.
