How I can train my dog not to get into my truck w / canopy?
We just got a month of 11 years to join our Leonberger Leonberger others, but the new is afraid to get in the back of my truck. It has a flag on it and think it might be due to the long flight / packaging that were in flight to us about 1 month. My Leos other Huskies / have no problems jumping in. How do you train new to overcome his fear and hop in the truck the cabin along with other dogs? I have also tried to purchase a dog track in and out so you do not have to go in / out, but that seems to have no positive effects. I have also tried to seduce him with delicious candy in the van. Now I'm out of the open truck bed ramp on it all day with some treats on the bed hope that you will find your own comfort with her in the coming days / weeks. Any solid advice would be appreciated!
First of all lucky Leonberger having are just beautiful dogs. This is difficult. One of my dogs hate the car, but tolerates it now and not vomiting any more [LOL] carry it out and suggest that see the other dogs jump in. Turn it on (I know it will not be lifting easy, but it is their only way to get him there). Every time I got truck with a sweet voice calm and praise just for being there. Pet him, to pat, talk to him in a calm way. Then take a walk short to a park or somewhere and let him have a career. Take it to several places where only associated with riding in the truck with something pleasant. Occasionally quit and the other dogs in the truck while you go somewhere out of sight. I am not advocating leaving them unattended. Especially in hot climates. (I sure that it is not necessary to say so.) All I'm suggesting is to go somewhere they can not see you, but you can see them and see them for about five minutes (assuming that the time is not too hot to do) and let you get to know nothing will happen to him. He can never be really comfortable, but he felt other dogs that are not afraid of the truck and will undoubtedly improve. Good luck.
