30 years after "flash", the world has been stripped of its natural splendor. Walk through the ashes, after UV-soaked is Eli (Denzel Washington), a loner in possession of data that is required to keep the West. Sending troublemakers on the road, Eli makes a tap room in a city of questionable, by Carnegie (Gary Oldman), a literate leader who governs the few natural resources left to loot.
Looking for the same book in possession of Eli, Carnegie warrior hunting through the desert with his followers (including Ray Stevenson), while Eli picks a partner in the form of a young woman named Solara (Mila Kunis), who is desperate to know the contents of the book and learn the ways of conserving who have kept alive through Eli horrible circumstances.
"The Book of Eli" marks a return to the director's chair Allen and Albert Hughes, the former prodigies that last happy with his 2001 opera Jack the Ripper stinky, "From Hell". From the opening titles, it is clear that the Hughes brothers have matured since your camera-trick year full of "Menace II Society" and "Dead Presidents", putting forth a more meditative effort to "Book of Eli" dealing with spirituality and survival in cold blood in a bleak post-apocalyptic world of raw despair.
Although the Cots wholeheartedly before the end of the world by the comments of cinema (think of the film as a cross between "The Road", "The Postman" and "A Boy and His Dog"), the Hughes brothers craft compelling abrasive tone of moral manipulation to beautify the traditional maneuvers of violence, such as Eli defends his secret tomb of potential thieves and scoundrels crisp.
Crossing the land armed with a machete, taking comfort from time to time KFC wet bathing nap and the rare charge of your broken MP3 player (along with the development of a taste for cat meat), Eli is not so much a lonely wanderer as he is a man a mission in a world of marauders and cannibals (a taste discovered by a hand shake) that stand in their way to salvation not specified. "Book of Eli "is an appropriate tone pessimistic decimated humanity, color and monochrome frame-time in the form of a graphic novel to give the public in which eventually revealed as a stream of ambiguity that has all the 120 minutes of run time to correctly set for inspection.
The book in question is the representative of both containment unfettered evil and reassuring, and screenwriter Gary Whitta works at a higher amount of anxiety on both sides of the coin Eli showed dogged determination and the suggestion of sinister plans of Carnegie mental control. It's a smart script that converts to faith in a set of classes, with a only possible pawn in the game, but it's a doozy of a time-tested top once under full control.
The Hughes brothers tart with the thematic thrust Setup screen bloodshed and shootouts, but unfortunately loses his cool and enjoy a sequence of cringe-worthy attack magic swirl camerawork and editing - A remnant rotten in the middle of his 90 films brat bravado that stands out like a sore thumb in an image of such solemnity.
If "Book of Eli" ends is a controversy likely and deliberate malfeasance, be sure to divide audiences sensitive to such issues of soul purpose. Not sure of the resolution shell game worth the trip, but the situation is satisfactory air and often challenging, perhaps without intention of cooling his closing speech devotion.
