Dogs and Cats, Training Eternal Enemies of the coexistence of

Dogs and cats. Eternal enemies, right? Through training proper Dog Obedience can teach your animals to live together.

The first mistake that most owners of pets that present their dogs and cats are allowed to carry out its own introduction. This is a mistake! As I said earlier, these two species are eternal enemies. You do not can just one set down near the other and expect great results. (Ok, I know it can and does happen, but my job here is to teach you about dog training. My version calls for preventive training for dogs and cats instead of creating a problem and then are forced to fix it. As mom used to say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.) There is a large part of prevention to be used before allowing their dogs and cats to coexist.

Whether you are introducing a new cat into a house with a dog or vice versa I want you to start the same way. Start with his faithful dog crate. Put your dog in the cage and let the cat to be in the same room. There are several possible outcomes for this action:
1. Your dog shows total indifference. This is ideal. If your dog behaves like this you will a rapid transition.
2. Your dog shows fear. This is not ideal, but will make the transition easier than some other outcomes.
3. Your dog shows nervousness and anxiety. He complains, he steps on the legs of cash at the door of the cage, etc. This behavior tells you he wants out. There's something about that cat is exciting and you want to know what it is.
4. Your dog shows overt aggression. Ladra, claws at the cage door, and knows exactly what to do with that cat. This will to be the hardest dog to train, but can be done.

For the first few days do not let your dogs and cats close to each other. Keep the dog in the cage. This does not mean you need to keep in the box 24 / 7. When I want out of the box just make sure your cat is turned off in another room to avoid contact. What do you hope to accomplish with this action is to train your dog to be indifferent to the cat. You want your dog to see the cat as "background noise." The cat is inconsequential, the cat does not matter, there is nothing interesting or exciting on the cat. In other words, your dog is safely tucked away in the drawer and casually observes the movement of cat in the house. For categories 1 and 2, is simple. It will take no more than a day or two for your dog to think of your cat like any other "thing" the house. Categories 3 and 4 will be more training and time.

For categories 3 and 4 is necessary to attach a negative association to show aggression cat. To do this, get a spray bottle. Fill the bottle with tap water or well water mixed with lemon juice, or for very stubborn dogs, vinegar and water. At this point, the dog remains seated properly in the drawer. The next part of the training is done while you are seated near the list box, for action. In the instant that your dog shows aggression (barking at the cat, claws at the door, he complains in frustration, etc) to spray the cat in the face with a bottle of spray. Each time he shows aggression spray bottle. When not showing aggression praise him gently, "Good boy."

Make sure your dog never has a chance to show aggression toward the cat without having a bad experience. This means that you should always be prepared with the spray bottle or make sure the cat is not near the dog. If you are not vigilant and your dog has the opportunity to show aggression without adverse consequences, the training was to show aggression cat.

If you are consistent with this exercise, you will soon realize that your dog is showing less and less aggression, while in the case, simply not worth running in the face by him. You're on your way to get their dogs and cats to coexist.

When you feel comfortable that your dog is indifferent to the decision Cat in the next step. As I said, for categories 1 and 2, is probably one or two days after starting the crate training. For categories of 3-4 years to your dog to the point where it is irrelevant and keeps this attitude for several days, if not a week.

The next step is to get your dog out of the box and get the dogs and cats together at last! You will move slowly, however. Put your dog training collar and leash your dog and ensure that he always wearing it at home. Keep your dog close to you and let your cat in the room. If your dog makes any movement that is to chase the cat, bark at the cats, or do any of the stereotyped behaviors that dogs and cats, give a strong correction with the leash. Do you want this fix to be very memorable belt so must be very strong. Want to be a very negative association to aggression cat.

Be consistent with this training. If you do this correctly, you will notice your dog is less than a desire to chase after or bark at the cats. As you notice your dog changing their behavior will give you more freedom and more, enabling him to be closer to the cat and further away from you. Eventually, phase out the use of dog training collar and leash.

Even if your dog does not show aggressive tendencies, never stopped running after the cat in the house, even in jest.

Even some of the most difficult to train dogs respond the previous method. There are, however, some dogs that have as strong prey drive that only drastic measures will cure them of their desire to chase and kill cats. For these dogs using a dog training collar electric.

Read the installation instructions appropriate for your dog training collar supply. With a stubborn dog that needs an electric collar that the method is simple. With the collar around his neck and turned to a high level of stimulation to be correct your dog every time he looks at the cat. As your dog even sneaks a look at your cat press the button to deliver the fix. Do not say 'no', not react in any way, only the right thing to see the cat. Do this as many times as necessary. Let's examine this from the point of your dog's sight. To reach the cat, want to pursue, wants to kill. But the very act of looking at the cat cause you pain. Do not say anything so they do not associate the correction with you. Soon learn to believe that the cat is "Evil" and would look even better, because the act of looking causes pain.

As with all training, should be very consistent. Your dog should never have a chance to succeed including persecution or want to chase the cat. Be consistent, however, and soon their dogs and cats can coexist.
