Dog Whisperer and Me

Cable television in December for the first time. It came in a package with our new FiOS Internet, so what could we do?

I spent a lot of time surfing the channels during the holidays, and entertainment that I could not stop see was "Man Dog Whisperer" with Cesar Millan. I had read two books and tried to apply some of his psychology to my dog two miniature schnauzer, but without success.

After watching Cesar deal with about 20 different dogs and their owners, I noticed an immediate improvement in the behavior of my dogs.

OK What's going on here? I was doing the same techniques suggested in his books, right? So Why I was getting better after seeing him?

What was happening is what I try in my therapy and coaching practice all time. It is a difference between doing and being.

I have a customer who comes in every week with a specific problem. She wants to know how to handle the problem. We discuss he and brainstorm and look at all angles, including the procedure for self and talk about the past as a child. But what she really wants is to give words accurate.

"What do I mean?" She asks.

When you see more about what drives her, she demands: "But What would you say in this case? "

If I say what I say, take a pencil and paper and write down, then practice what you just said. Without But when the situation comes again, lost for words. Why? Because all it took for the session were the words, how to do something. It did not have the other party. How to BE.

Cesar saw a dog walk to BIGGGGG that was out of control with his family. Caesar stood there, put his head up, and became the alpha dog. He had nothing to talk about OJ. That big dog became a cat around.

Before seeing Cesar, I could not get my cute puppies to stop pulling on the straps when out on a walk, and I tried to do what Cesar says it does in the book. After watching Cesar, I became the leader and now, walking behind me, unless I give permission to walk ahead.

When we make a New Year's resolution to lose want to lose weight, we must become the first healthy weight before dieting. When we have more success in our business, must be the owner of a business successful, because we do all the right things and copy what other successful people DO, but until we become what a successful person is most likely not have success.

The next week I will talk more about this in terms of our negative and painful emotions. And, I want to thank Cesar Millan (and all wonderful canines) to show so clearly on its agenda the difference between doing and being.
