Puma AG Rudolf Dassler Sport (Puma) (FWB: PUMG) is a multinational German-based athletic footwear producing large high range and other sports.
The company is perhaps best known for its football shoes and has sponsored international football stars as Pel, Eusbio, Johan Cruijff, Enzo Francescoli, Diego Maradona, Lothar Matthus, Kenny Dalglish, Didier Deschamps and Gianluigi Buffon. Puma is also the sponsor of the track Jamaican athlete Usain Bolt who won three gold medals by breaking the man 100 meters, 200m and 4x100m world records in Beijing Olympics 2008. In the United States the company is probably best known for the basketball shoe introduced in 1968 at what that eventually led to the name New York Knicks basketball star Walt "Clyde" Frazier, and its sponsorship partnership with Joe Namath. The business grew and Dasslers were selling 200,000 pairs of shoes each year before the Second World War.
