Where should I go to Canada?
Born and raised in Canada but now lives in California (which sucks ....) and I'm looking to return. This is what I'm looking for - small town, the 4 seasons (none of this "hot or warm rain stations of California) - home for the low-s 100,000 (up 150,000), not Ontario (That's where I grew up, looking for something different) I am also a dog groomer, and they would need a place with a lot of pets and people who can afford to have their pets fixed! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! For some reason I'm leaning toward the East Coast ... If you could include some information about the city in its response that would be great! "Where and why is I'm looking for! Thank you very much in advance, and Happy Canada Day! oh and I'm bilingual, I speak French!
Everyone always goes to the big cities Let P approx Winnipeg! - Ha. 700,000 (much smaller than some of the largest cities). - It has the four seasons of the year (to end). - Reduced costs housing in Canada (as far as I know) -. Advantages: You have a lot of dogs (many dog parks, and for some reason, I've seen lots of people dogs in Canada Day) - Very oriented culture (we have many cultural festivals) - very historical. We have a lot of beautiful neighborhoods with Victorian houses. And our downtown is like that. We like to keep as many of the older buildings as possible, because it gives you character -. Seasons. We have hot summers, Hot and cold winters. Then the stations in between fall and spring, where really nice out. If you like the sun, and as snow (and change), is good. You can go up to 40 degrees C in summer and down to 40 degrees C in winter. - Very little rain or bad weather (and early spring.) We only have a couple of warnings tornado, and very little rain rather than Western cities. - Very easy. Probably one of Canada's most friendly cities I've been too. The people are very helpful, and always say hello (Whenever I have a lot of good days of complete strangers while walking to work). - Many things to do. We have lots of festivals and things to do in the city. Such as the Festival of Folk, Country Fest, Film Festivals -. Many more options and places to shop / eat, etc in small towns -. About U.S.. If you want different shopping, or miss the U.S., the Canadian border is only about 1.5 hours by car. Can easily lead to a large U.S. city (Minneapolis) in 6-7 hours. Many of Manitoba States down to the weekend -. Very bilingual. We have a lot of people who speak French in our city, and many schools French immersion. And even a French Quarter (St. Boniface). We also have many other neighborhoods with the predominant cultures (Italians, Poles, Indians, Asians, etc) Disadvantages: - Many of the cars / bikes stolen / theft. It sucks, but deal with it -. traffic. Our city does not have very good transporation. It is much easy to get around big cities, and not much traffic, but still get the rush hours, etc, becaue we have grown too large for our streets. And we have a lot of potholes, etc in the spring due to extreme climate change, causing a large amount of construction in the summer -. Misquitos ... but fog each summer, which gets rid of them. In general, I love this city because it is small so do not feel overwhelmed, but big enough to have much choice and many things to do. I have also discovered that Winnipeg is a very creative. We tend to have a lot of artists, bands, hippies and very special people. Not like some of those cities where everyone is a cookie-cutter clones using A & F clothes. very good city if you are relaxed and want to be yourself.
