How do I prevent my dog is destructive chewing?
Rest assured your dog is perfectly capable of learning not to chew your way of thinking. However, requires some effort on your part.
The first step to stop destructive chewing is dog proof your home.
Even better dog behavior in the world, fall into temptation. Why test?
In short, if you do not want it in your mouth, keep it out of reach. Can jump, climb or jump something else to get there? How high is that while standing on his hind legs?
Highly prized chew toys include:
* Books (including my Bible was not sure!)
* Glasses (I'm currently with a pair of glasses with teeth marks on the lens)
* clothing (in particular, I have had dogs with socks and underwear fetish!)
* Shoes (not a shoe the table right at my door)
* Trash (a fully closed can is your best choice)
* Small appliances such as cameras, cell phones and remote controls. (And, of course, wires and cables power that go with them. I can not even begin to tell you how many computer cables I had to change!)
Rinse your dirty plates clean any food scraps before leaving them by the sink.
All food must be put safely away. Even pet food is stored in drums galvanized in our house. Nothing remains in bags that can be easily torn.
Do not leave snacks on low tables or countertops. Our pastor young people, said a great story about a Bassett Hound and her favorite apple pie! You can not think of a Bassett Hound to be particularly athletic or acrobatic, but there he was shocked when an apple pie is the prize!
If you keep the temptation away from your dog, you will both be happier in the long term.
